Susie's Southern Heritage Chocolate Pie recipe

Temperature: 400 ° F

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons Hersheys cocoa
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 lg egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 pats butter

Instructions

Before turning on burner, mix with wire wisk in large sauce pan - 1 cup sugar, 3 heaping tablespoons all purpose flour and 3 round tablespoons Hershey's Cocoa in large sauce pan. Add 2 cups, 3 lg egg yolks(save egg whites for later), well beaten, 1 teaspoon pure vanilla, and 2 pats butter. Stir and cook over medium heat until thick and bubbly, about 12 minutes. Let cool slightly, pour into baked pie shell and cover with well beaten egg whites(3 leftover)mixed with 3 tablespoons sugar added and beaten until stiff but not dry. Cover chocolate and make certain to seal edges. Brown in 400 degree oven about 5-7 minutes.
