French Apple Cobbler recipe

Temperature: 375 ° F

Ingredients

  • 6 large  apples - cut into thin wedges
  • 1/4 cup  sugar
  • 1 tbsp  fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tspn  cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup  flour
  • 1/2 cup  sugar
  • 1/2 tspn  baking powder
  • 1/4 tspn  salt
  • 2 tbsp  soft butter
  • 1 egg - slightly beaten

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Toss the first 4 ingredients (apples, sugar, lemon juice and cornstarch) together in a 9" square non-stick bake pan. Place in middle of oven for 10 minutes.
Make batter while apple mixture bakes
Combine the rest of the ingredients ( flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter and egg) together with a wooden spoon until smooth. Drop batter in 9 portions on apples, spacing evenly. batter will spread during baking. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.
