Ingredients
- 6 large apples - cut into thin wedges
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tspn cornstarch
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tspn baking powder
- 1/4 tspn salt
- 2 tbsp soft butter
- 1 egg - slightly beaten
Instructions
Winner of the September 2003 Kaiser Bakeware Recipe Contest Preheat oven to 375 degrees Toss the first 4 ingredients (apples, sugar, lemon juice and cornstarch) together in a 9" square non-stick bake pan. Place in middle of oven for 10 minutes. Make batter while apple mixture bakes Combine the rest of the ingredients ( flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter and egg) together with a wooden spoon until smooth. Drop batter in 9 portions on apples, spacing evenly. batter will spread during baking. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.
